Singapore-based Cygron launches award-winning enterprise product

DataScope 4.0 Enters US $3.9 billion corporate Business Intelligence market

Singapore-based Cygron Pte Ltd stakes a claim to a share of the rapidly growing worldwide market for business intelligence software with its Comdex 2000 award-winning business intelligence tool, DataScope 4.0.

IDC (International Data Corp.) predict that worldwide revenues from business intelligence software will quadruple from US $3.9 billion in 2000 to $12.78 billion in 2004, growing at 34 per cent per year. Cygron’s DataScope 4.0 is well poised to enter this market. Selected as on of the three finalist in the Enterprise Product Category at Comdex in November, DataScope 4.0 provides enterprises with a highly visual data mining application that empowers users to locate, collect, cluster, interpret and understand different kinds of data in order to create patterns and meaning.

“Today, data overload is growing at an alarming, almost unmanageable rate”, say Roger Wolf, president and CEO of Cygron Pte Ltd. “Overwhelmed by the speed and volume with which data is aggregating, many information specialists and business executives do not know how to make sense of all the data that they have.” Business enterprises need to mine data for insights and trends to improve business performance and deliver service quality. DataScope 4.0 acts as a strategic business application, “providing a comprehensive and integrate overview of a corporation’s data resource network, and empowering users to rank and compare data according to decision preferences”.

Raw data is usually disparate and fragmented. “Data Scope 4.0 organises data into meaningful clusters for more effective understanding, relevance and interpretation. Information can then be acted upon, impacting business goals and results,” says Wolf. Data tends also to be spread out and scattered across different domains such as the finance, sales and marketing, and supply chain sectors. “DataScope 4.0 is able to collect data across different contexts, bring them together and provide a radar scan, as it were, of the disparate and differentiated data, in response to the specific business needs of a corporation. Enterprises can then use this data mapping to access and analyse data quickly and effectively, in order to make informed business decisions.”

In 1999, DataScope won the Best Personal Productivity Software award at Comdex. This year it was voted a Best of Comdex finalist for the Best Enterprise Product category. DataScope’s powerful 3-dimensional data visualisation sets it apart from other players in the market. Its intuitive grasp of business models and scenarios encourages the exploration of business possibilities and a deepening of analysis through drilling down into critical dimensions, slicing information into bite-sized chunks of manageable data. It also operates across a range of database platforms, promoting flexibility and interoperability, in addition to keeping the data as current and relevant as possible.

“The introduction of DataScope 4.0 represents a significant milestone in our mission to make data mining both easy to use, and affordable to enterprises, including small and medium-sized organisations,” says Wolf. “With DatScope 4.0, corporations can unlock critical business information from their massive databases and company archives, transforming this hidden knowledge into a strategic business resource.”

Cygron currently has 42 employees, including 29 in Hungary and 7 in Singapore. It has plans to grow to 53 employees by end-2001. The company has received US $2.2 million in seed funding in 1999.
